Energy Consumption per Unit Calculator

Calculate the energy intensity and energy cost per unit produced in your plant.

How is energy intensity calculated?

Energy intensity is calculated by dividing the total electricity consumption for the period by the units produced in that same period (kWh per unit). Multiplying by the price per kWh gives the energy cost per unit, a key indicator for calculating margins and detecting inefficiencies.

Benchmark values vary widely by sector: light industry (electronics, textiles) usually has intensities below 1 kWh/unit, while heavy industry (steel, cement, chemicals) can easily exceed 10 kWh/unit or more.

This indicator is especially useful for tracking energy efficiency projects and for documentation required in energy audits or sustainability reports.
